Long-Reach Gripper and Electric Plug Aid for Disabled Client

In a team of 6 mechanical engineers, we designed, prototyped, and manufactured a long-reaching gripper that allowed a disabled client with no grip strength to grab objects that are 0.75 meters away. This was done with less than $30 of material over three days and two nights, and all the goals were met: the device picks up 2 kg fruits, pens, and papers, and is light enough for an elderly female to use.

Another device we created was a cheap, light, and ergonomic electric plug aid, which many of the clients at the event also wanted. These plug aids are cheap and attachable to various electric plugs and allows for clients with no grip strength to push outlets into walls by applying a normal force with one hand.
